Hope everyone has had a great summer, but now as the new academic year draws near so to our ensemble rehearsals. Last year was our best in terms of performances and growth. So we should endeavour to make this year even more great.
Rehearsals start Friday the 14th of February at 6 pm, in Building 57 Level 4 Room 1.
New Members are always welcome and we accept all skill levels for those who play Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass. (No auditions)
Look forward to seeing you all for a great 2014.
Hi to all,
Firstly, for those who are unaware, RMIT String Ensemble are still running rehearsals. We will return to rehearsals on Friday the 14th of June from 6 pm. The later time is to accommodate the Recorder Ensemble at 5 pm.
Secondly, We are preparing our music section for the end of year concert which will be awesome.
Thirdly, the group is looking for more members especially anyone who plays Violin and Viola, although any other instrument (cello & double bass) are still welcomed. So if you play a string instrument you are more than welcomed to join our ensemble.
We look forward to seeing you to play wonderful music.
Hello there denizens of RMIT Music,
After a week of rest the Recorder Consort is back in action, and we shall be practicing a plethora of material, some for fun, some for camp (the event, not the aesthetic sensibility), and some for the Showcase Concert.
What shall be inflicted on the Consort?
To find the answer you just have to come and see…
5pm Mondays (with the possibility to extend past the normal 6ish finish pending Concert Band inaction).
RMIT Music will be running a String and Orchestra Rehearsal this Friday, 29th March, for those who wish to attend.
These rehearsals are running because last weeks rehearsals didn’t run due to camp and the previous weeks were very short rehearsals.
So if you don’t have any other things on and are feeling bored, why not come along.
Come on, Come all,
RMIT Orchestra is Starting rehearsals this Friday for 2013, so if you play any Orchestral Instruments and wish to join us and play a wide variety of orchestral music then come along.
Rehearsal will start at 6PM in Building 57.4.1 of the RMIT City Campus, (Right after the String Ensemble rehearsal)
We look forward to seeing you all to play wonderful music.
It is sad, but we must cancel our first scheduled Stage Band rehearsal (tonight, 20/2) as so few can attend.
Also, as Herr Conductor will be out of town, there will be no Concert Band rehearsal next Monday (25/2).
The Rehearsal Timetable has been updated to reflect these changes, so be sure to refer to it if you are unsure about when and where things are happening.
What’s this? More rehearsals?!
But of course! Next week our Concert and Stage bands will be resuming rehearsals.
Concert Band will resume on Monday the 18th at 6PM in 57.4.1. As always we’ll be heading to The Oxford Scholar afterwards to take advantage of their $12 parma and their plentiful drinks.
Stage Band will be resuming Wednesday the 18th at 6:30PM, also in 57.4.1. We don’t have any after rehearsal tradition/rituals as of yet, but there’s no reason we couldn’t start. Voice your suggestions at the rehearsal.
Be sure to practice your long tones and we’ll see you all there next week!
Ahoy, Ahoy, Recorders off the starboard bow,
That’s right the RMIT Recorder Consort is beginning rehearsals again.
5pm-6:20pm, Monday nights in the Music Room (57.04.01), starting from February 4th onwards.
So if you want to have some fun, play some music, and be part of raiding parties* then why not come along.
*Note raiding parties are to the VRG music library to increase our repertoire among their catalogue
Hello and welcome, to RMIT Music’s new home on the web!
With the launch of this site, we hope to make outdated and inaccurate information a thing of the past and to keep you informed about upcoming events.
Just one of the ways we aim to achieve this is with our new interactive rehearsal timetable. The page now displays rehearsals as they’re scheduled in our calendar. If a rehearsal is moved or canceled, it will be automatically reflected by this calendar (and the group leader will hopefully notify you by other means as well).
Also new is a page outlining membership and camp fees for the year (as well as other costs you might incur). As we move forward we hope to improve the quality of the information offered here and to add places to showcase our concerts and events.
Finally, you may have noticed our cunning new logo! Since receiving it at the end of last year, we’ve taken great pleasure in plastering it to just about everything. This website is no exception.
So, now that we’ve tamed the technological beast, let’s all strive to make 2013 our best year yet!
